Introduction
I have spent my whole life with horses and have been involved with many different aspects of the equine world. From Point to Point racing to Breeding through to Eventing and Pleasure Riding. I have always wanted to work with horses and whilst studying at the Royal Agricultural College at Cirencester for a degree in International Equine and Agricultural Business Management, I decided a career improving the welfare and health of horses and ponies was for me and equine dentistry seemed the perfect option, it seemed the perfect way I could give back to the animals that have given so much pleasure through the years.
Training
I trained in New Zealand at the New Zealand School of Equine Dentistry in 2003 under the instruction of Warwick Behrns EqDT/IAED/CA one of only 15 advanced certified Dental technicians in the world. Whilst there I worked on a number of different horses and dental problems.
I regularly go back to New Zealand and spend time working with Warwick, improving by techniques and help him to train his new recuits. This also helps me to keep up to date with the new techniques and understanding of Equine Dentistry.

Through my experience with Racehorses and youngstock, I believe I have developed an understanding, quiet and relaxed approach to dealing with horses, and make sure the whole experience is not a stressful one for you or your horse. I have worked with a large number of nervous horses or horses that have had bad experiences of dentistry in the past, using my approach and working within their comfort zones and taking time with each horse, many have become a lot more relaxed and excepting of the whole procedure. |
